Jack Johnson wrote a fantastic song titled, Better Together. It's all about how spending time together with loved ones makes everything better. As it turns out, better together is exactly why King Jesus created us!
In Genesis 1:26, we read about our Creator's ridiculous love for us: "God said, 'Let us make humanity in our image according to our likeness..." There's nothing else in all creation made in God's image and likeness! We are, in fact, God's masterpiece!
In the Gospel of John God's love for us is everywhere! The Evangelist discloses that King Jesus stepped down from heaven and came into the world, even though He knew nearly everyone would despise, reject, and hate Him (1:10-11), so that we could behold His glory (1:14) when He takes away the sins of the world (1:29)!
You might be wondering why Jesus would come if He knew the majority of people throughout history would despise and reject Him. The bottom line is that our LORD gave Himself away out of selfless love. He knew that some would turn from sin and love Him forever (Revelation 7:9)! He did it because our Creator considers us worthy of the incalculable price paid at the Cross (Hebrews 12:2).
In John 1:14 we read, “The Word (that‘s King Jesus!) became flesh and dwelt with us, and we saw His glory revealed!” In John 3:22 we read that King Jesus was just hanging out with His friends and spending time with them. Therefore, it shouldn’t surprise us that King Jesus LOVES spending time with us! That’s precisely why He created us in the first place!
Despite turning our hearts from Him to darkness, He made sure that didn't have to be the end of the story. Instead, King Jesus, The Eternal Son, The Light of The World came to earth in the flesh to demonstrate His UNSTOPPABLE! love for us!
He gave His life to permanently erase all our wicked, selfish, and rebellious decisions. He died to pay the ultimate price for all our ugliness, selfishness, and sin. He came to separate us from our sin as far as the East is from the West (Psalm 103:12)! King Jesus did all that for us because He knows it’s always better when we’re together!
