When we stop and think about the fact that God loves us so much, that The Heavenly Father willingly gave His Son so that everyone who has faith in Jesus will not die but have everlasting life… that The Son of God willingly humbled Himself to the point of death, even death on a cross... that The Holy Spirit willingly takes up residence in the hearts and lives of King Jesus' devoted followers and friends... that’s all just mind boggling! That's amazing love!
It really is hard to imagine that despite all the lies we tell, all the times we’re unfair, mean, cheaters, stingy and selfish in so many ways, God's love for us isn't diminished. He doesn't find us any less lovable! Crazy, but absolutely true! We know it because Romans 5:8 reveals, “While we were still sinners, Christ died for us!”
John 3:16 reveals:
God's love is UNIVERSAL: The absolute boundless ginormity of God’s love is for EVERYONE… we just have to accept it!
God's love is PERSONAL: God came Himself as Immanuel, the Lamb of God who take away the sin of the world… God didn't send someone else to do the job!
God's love is SIMPLE: Faith isn't about ceremonies, rituals, traditions, rules and regulations, or do's and don'ts. God's love is about life in and with Christ… We don't need a Ph.D. in theology or anything else to be loved by God. King Jesus said we should come like little children!
God's love is WONDERFUL: Redemption isn't just about being saved from Hell, but about being redeemed into the family of our God of Holy Trinity FOREVER… Christ's desire is for us to experience glorious life-giving fellowship in Gospel Community!
Wow! God’s love for us, Christ's love for YOU, truly is: universal, personal, simple, and unimaginably wonderful!
That truth, love, and reality remind us King Jesus truly is UNSTOPPABLE! He came, lived, suffered, and died all in order to throw us an everlasting party in heaven when He returns! The Bible teaches us He's coming again soon for those who are eagerly awaiting His return (Hebrews 9:28), so are you "eagerly awaiting?"
Our acceptance of His gloriously gracious invitation, our "eagerly awaiting His return," looks like this:
1) Repentance: not just feeling bad about our sin and folly, but turning from our sin to worshipping Him. King Jesus never said, "Ask Me into your heart." Instead, He commands us to repent (see Luke 5:32; Acts 2:38) as an essential step to discovering new life in Him.
2) Devotion: Giving ourselves away, not to religion, but to gathering (Matt 12:30), growing (Eph 4:13-16), giving (Mark 10:43-45), and going (Acts 1:8) as members of His Body.
You're invited! And our devotion to Gospel Community (Acts 2:42) is the evidence of both our repentance from selfish lives and our devotion to King Jesus! It's the "proof in the pudding" demonstrating our thankfulness for His UNSTOPPABLE! love, and our acceptance of His invitation into everlasting life with Him!
