EVERYTHING!

The Bible opens with an incredible revelation of truth, “In the beginning, Elohim (God) created the heavens and the earth.” The eternal God of Trinity (Father, Son, and Spirit) effortlessly created the entire material cosmos, EVERYTHING, simply by willing it into existence.

The one and only true God of Eternity, “Elohim,” aka “Yahweh Elohim,” or simply “Yahweh” (see Exodus 3:14-15), has always been and will always be infinite, perfect, absolute, holy, and sovereign. Why, then, create anything? Why create everything? Why did God -will- a material cosmos into existence?

The answer is simple, yet exceedingly profound: FOR US!

Despite God’s full awareness that all humanity would willfully reject, warp, twist, insist, strive, strain, stain, destroy, defame, pervert, and persist in our rebellion against our Creator… Yahweh, saw the immeasurable value He endowed us with. That's why the Cross wasn't too high a price to pay for King Jesus.

In Genesis 3, the crafty and spitefully jealous serpent’s underhanded scheme unfurls. What began as a seemingly innocuous discussion was, at its heart, a scandalous plot to ravage and mutilate humanity’s unique relationship with God beyond recognition or repair. The serpent's desire was to turn the primary object of God’s love and devotion, humanity, into objects of divine disgust, disdain, and wrath. But Satan grossly underestimated God's mercy, grace, and love!

Yahweh was fully aware, unfazed, and undaunted. God’s plan, from before “the beginning,” was to redeem humanity from the crafty serpent’s grasp of hopeless depravity through “The Lamb slain from the foundation of the cosmos” (Revelation 13:8).

Therefore, in a display of extravagant and unmerited grace, mercy, and love, Yahweh upends the insidious scheme with a momentous promise of the serpent’s inevitable defeat and humanity’s imminent redemption! A future male offspring of Eve would eventually come and crush the serpent (along with his rebellion and all its rebels) at the cost of His own life (Genesis 3:15).

God’s promise became tangible when Immanuel, Messiah, the Christ, the Lamb of God, the Eternal Son, Yahweh Himself stepped down from His heavenly throne and clothed Himself in humanity as Jesus of Nazareth (Philippians 2:5-11).

  • Yahweh knows EVERYTHING...

  • Yahweh created EVERYTHING...

  • Yahweh rules EVERYTHING...

  • Yahweh gave EVERYTHING...

Therefore, in light of the Cross, where The King of Eternity died to pay our immeasurable sin-debt, and in light of the empty tomb, demonstrating His power and sovereignty over EVERYTHING… what is our only appropriate response?

Is our response a life filled with pursuits of fame, fortune, safety, and security? Is it an obligatory hour on Sunday "worship" whenever we’re not too tired, too busy, too worried, too overwhelmed, too preoccupied, or too apathetic? Is it a superficial grasp of individual stories (Noah's ark, Jonah and the fish, Moses parting the sea, etc.) rather than a thorough understanding of His comprehensive love story, the Bible?

Is our response to God's revelation merely selfish prayers seeking deliverance from circumstances that emerged from rebellious lives lived disconnected from God, His will, His plan, His mission, and His Son? Is our response nothing more than empty religious ceremonies amounting to nothing more than comfortable human traditions and pious hypocrisy (Isaiah 29:13)? While "worshiping" are we, in fact, still serving our own idols of corporatism, career, family, security, significance, relevance, fortune, or fame (2 Ki 17:12)?

Then Jesus looked up and saw the rich putting their gifts into the treasury, and He saw a poor widow put in two small copper coins. “Truly I tell you,” He said, “this poor widow has put in more than all the others. For they have all given of their leftovers, but she -out of her poverty- has put in everything.” -Luke 21:1-4

The only appropriate response to God Who knows everything, Who created everything, Who rules over everything, and Who gave everything… is to give Him our everything in return.

Romans 10:9 reveals, "If you declare with your mouth, 'Jesus is Lord,' and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved." That's not a magical incantation. It's an exclamation of God's truth welling up from those who are truly born again by the Holy Spirit (see Ephesians 2:1-10) by grace through faith!

Reading this may very well be your final opportunity to repent and respond with so much more than empty words or hollow religion. Today can be the start of a genuine life of submission and agreement with your Creator's will and plan for YOU in Christ Jesus. Allow your born-again life, from this day forward, to be a life of AMEN! Let it be one of emptying the tank and being spent daily declaring to the world that King Jesus is your everything!

Grace and Peace,
