The Gift!

The Gift!

"The first thing to do in examining the power that dominates me is to take hold of the unwelcome fact that I am responsible for being thus dominated. I am a slave to myself because at a point way back I yielded to myself."
-Oswald Chambers

The "way back" Oswald is referring to is not the point where we personally gave in to sin, but WAAAAAAY back when we all sinned in Adam in Eden.

We despise the idea of being personally responsible without being present, but the Bible tells us we were - in a very real sense - present in Adam there in Eden.

We shuck, shrug-off, and dismiss Eden as myth or fantasy - and in doing so we simultaneously dismiss responsibility.

Apart from accepting responsibility we cannot participate in the gift of grace that comes through Jesus Christ.

Adam was our champion in Eden and he wrought sin upon us all. Jesus is our new Champion at the Cross of Calvary and the empty tomb.

The power that dominates is not anger, alcoholism, lust, greed, etc... No, the power that dominates us ALL is sin, and sin entered the world through one man.

God didn't leave it there!

"But the gift is not like the trespass. For if the many died by the trespass of the one man, how much more did God’s grace and the gift that came by the grace of the one man, Jesus Christ, overflow to the many! Nor can the gift of God be compared with the result of one man’s sin: The judgment followed one sin and brought condemnation, but the gift followed many trespasses and brought justification."

Blessings,
