Restraining Caesar

The United States of America has been drowning for decades under a government that pretends to be God. It has seized roles that Jesus Christ never assigned to it, including those of counselor, caretaker, schoolmaster, healer, high priest, and moral judge. No nation can bear this burden without first embracing false sovereignty. Satan's scheme to distract, steal, kill, and destroy has been working famously. Our nation has fractured into Red vs. Blue, Right vs. Left, Trump vs. Clinton, Biden, and Harris. The underlying flaw is that most are looking to government systems, political platforms, and human ideologies to accomplish what only Christ Jesus can.

This is no endorsement of the heretical and toxic Christian Nationalism movement, which wields civil power to impose religious conversion. Its advocates and devotees seek to enforce conformity as if Caesar's sword could replace the WORD of Christ and ministry of the Holy Spirit. Such counterfeits trade authentic regeneration for coercion, seeking to turn civil magistrates into religious magisteriums and confuse Christ's Kingdom with the kingdoms of men. However, the true gospel advances supernaturally through proclamation, repentance, and rebirth by the Holy Spirit—not through mandatory legislation or human vote (Acts 4:12; John 3:3). Scripture clearly distinguishes between these jurisdictions to protect the church and benefit the world (Romans 13:1-4). Christian Nationalism seeks to fuse them through dominionism, which births idolatry, an abomination wearing and wielding a cross.

Consequently, the need is not for some idealized earthly Christian state. Instead, a restrained one must emerge, humbled back into its God-ordained lane. This restraint allows the church to fulfill the mission Christ gave her without intrusion or blasphemous substitution. Thus, the answer to tyranny lies in jurisdictional restraint.

The Crisis: Jurisdictional Overreach

Government overreach has long gone beyond inefficiency. It has become idolatrous larceny. The state dons priestly robes and offers counterfeit mercy. It substitutes bureaucracy for brotherhood and sanctifies sin via mandatory taxation. God never commissioned the state to disciple children; that duty belongs to parents and communities (Deuteronomy 6:6-7). The LORD did not assign care for the poor to the state, but to families and the church (1 Timothy 5:8; Galatians 6:10). Christ alone defines truth (John 14:6), and the church gathers under His divine headship alone (Ephesians 5:23).

As a result, state overreach and intrusion have deformed and perverted God's design. State dependency scatters people from Christ (Matthew 12:30). Education has become government-mandated worldview implantation, bureaucratic thought programming, statist mind-molding, and citizen-funded conformity curriculum. Statism serves as a form of Satanism, which crushes authentic stewardship. This trespass demands radical systemic reform, not mere tweaks. America's constitutional republic—not a democracy—reflected theological realism. Fallen man with unchecked power devours rather than defends (1 Samuel 8:10-18). Therefore, the law administered under God must be restored.

The Four Essential Functions of Government

Then Jesus told them, “Give to Caesar what is Caesar’s, and to God what is God’s.” And they marveled at Him (Mark 12:17). When the LORD was unjustly arrested and brought before Pontius Pilate, Jesus told him, “You would have no authority over Me if it were not given to you from above…” Scripture reveals God-ordained civil authority within narrow bounds. Four essential functions define legitimate government: (1) national defense to protect the country from threats, both foreign and domestic, (2) protecting private citizens from internal harm, (3) defining and enforcing constitutional law to maintain order, and (4) adjudicating disputes with impartial justice (Romans 13:1-7; 1 Peter 2:13-14). The state is appointed by God to bear the sword precisely. In contrast, the church wields the WORD, establishes sound doctrine, refutes heresies, and shepherds consciences as caretakers of souls.

These four functions form a biblical minimalist framework. Government exists to restrain evil, commend the good, defend against harm, and resolve conflicts fairly—nothing more. Expansions beyond this always invite serpent-seed rebellion (Genesis 3:15; 2 Corinthians 11:14). America's strength lies not in diversity, which divides and scatters like Babel (Genesis 11:4-9). Our nation thrives on unity under God, as the United States of America, not the Diverse States of America. This unity flows from shared submission to the rule of constitutional law, binding citizens in common purpose rather than fracturing them into warring factions.

Because of Eden’s curse, humanity, apart from Christ, will always seek to establish counterfeit kingdoms and Edenic utopias via alternative routes. Christ and His Apostles warned of wolves who would infiltrate the church. It’s no surprise that they weasel and worm their way into public office as well. Jude identified them as “those who slander what they do not understand, and like irrational animals, they will be destroyed by the things they do instinctively. They have traveled the path of Cain… and have perished in Korah’s rebellion… shamelessly feasting with you but shepherding only themselves. They are clouds without water… fruitless trees in autumn, twice dead after being uprooted. They are wild waves of the sea, foaming up their own shame; wandering stars, for whom blackest darkness has been reserved forever… They are discontented grumblers, following after their own lusts; their mouths spew arrogance; they flatter others for their own advantage.”

Therefore, jurisdictions are to be maintained; otherwise, bondage inevitably follows. Trespasses are readily identified: The state becomes a surrogate parent, the bureaucrat acts as a parent, priest, and pastor, and citizens turn into Pharaoh's ward. Civil restraint is not optional. It glorifies Christ; meanwhile while overreach suppresses truth in wickedness (Romans 1:18) and warrants God’s divine wrath on nations opposing His will and WORD.

Defund and Dismantle

The state has long trampled God's boundaries and waged war on His order. It has long attacked the sanctity of human life by subsidizing murder under the lie of “pro-choice”. God forms and values every person in the womb (Psalm 139:13-16; Exodus 20:13; Proverbs 6:16-17). Human zygotes and fetuses must be recognized as fully human from conception and protected constitutionally under the function of protecting citizens. Abortion providers require complete defunding and judicial prosecution for murder.

Similarly, the state assaults the household by seizing education and indoctrinating children into statism (Ephesians 6:4; Colossians 2:8). Education must be privatized completely to end double-taxing Christians who are forced to pay for a private education or homeschooling. This intrusion violates the core function of defining and enforcing rules, as it imposes Marxist ideological conformity rather than “neutral” order.

The government undermines property ownership and stewardship via perpetual property taxation, maintaining welfare, debasing currency, and redistributing wealth through coercion (Leviticus 19:35-36; 1 Timothy 5:8). State-imposed welfare programs must be eliminated and private ownership of property and land restored. This allows families and churches to provide as God intends (2 Corinthians 9:7), not under the thumb of Caesar’s wisdom. Such overreach perverts protecting citizens into enabling dependency.

Moreover, the state wars against truth in other ways. Tax dollars fund immorality and idolatry through so-called “arts” programs that masquerade as culture while promoting explicit sexual content, blasphemy against God, and the normalization of perversions such as homosexuality, transgenderism, and abortion as "rights" (Ephesians 5:11). Funding flows to institutions like the National Endowment for the Arts, which have subsidized works depicting Christ in urine, drag queen story hours for children, and performances celebrating rebellion against God's created order—deceitful "light" that leads souls astray (2 Corinthians 11:14; Romans 1:25-27). This perversion supplants true beauty, which reflects the Creator's glory (Psalm 19:1), with serpent-seed idolatry that scatters from Christ and heaps condemnation (Genesis 3:15; Matthew 12:30).

Furthermore, the state sends foreign aid for anti-family agendas that directly oppose God's command to be fruitful and multiply, while undermining the biblical foundation of marriage and procreation (Genesis 1:28; Proverbs 24:11-12). Billions in taxpayer funds flow through agencies like USAID to international organizations promoting abortion access, contraception mandates that treat children as burdens, sterilization campaigns in developing nations, and LGBTQ+ "rights" programs that redefine family away from God's design of one man and one woman united in covenant (Genesis 2:24; Matthew 19:4-6). This masquerades as humanitarianism but facilitates population control, rescues no one from true peril, and heaps guilt on nations by funding the slaughter of innocents abroad—serpent-seed rebellion that scatters from Christ's lordship and demands repentance (2 Corinthians 11:14; Romans 1:18).

It mandates DEI programs that enforce partiality under the guise of equity, dividing people by race, sex, and identity while rejecting the biblical truth that in Christ there is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female—for all are one in Him (Galatians 3:28; James 2:1-9). These initiatives compel speech, punish dissent, and institutionalize Marxist class warfare, masquerading as justice but suppressing God's impartial order and scattering unity in Christ (Romans 1:18; Matthew 12:30).

It subsidizes euthanasia and transgender procedures that profane the body as God's temple, encouraging self-murder and mutilation in rebellion against the Creator who knits us together male and female (1 Corinthians 6:19-20; Genesis 1:27; Deuteronomy 32:39). Tax funds enable "mercy" killings and chemical/surgical alterations that deny immutable design, playing God over life and death—serpent-seed lies that lead to destruction rather than flourishing (2 Corinthians 11:14; John 10:10).

It enforces climate idolatry through state agencies that deify the earth, instilling fear of man-made apocalypse despite God's covenant promise of stable seasons until the end (Psalm 24:1; Genesis 8:22; Matthew 6:25-34). Bureaucrats demand worship via regulations, green mandates, and wealth transfers, erecting a pagan altar to "Mother Earth" that supplants trust in the Creator—Babel-like control that crushes stewardship under deceitful burdens (Genesis 11:4; Jeremiah 17:9).

These practices fund serpent-seed rebellion (Genesis 3:15; 2 Corinthians 11:14). To counter them, DOGE-like cuts must prune the beast and redirect resources to honest measures (Proverbs 11:1), strengthening national defense and fair adjudication. Such institutional overreach demands action. Departments like so-called “Education” must be scrapped entirely, and the government limited to the aforementioned four essential functions alone (Romans 13:4).

Covenant Treason Demands Consequence

Our civil servants have become rulers who do more than misuse authority—they profit from corruption through insider trading, collusion, and manufactured crises that enrich the powerful. They are not guilty of mere miscalculations. They are covenant traitors (Exodus 23:8; Deuteronomy 16:19), wolves who rape citizens, abuse public trust, prosper from sowing chaos, and rebel against God-ordained responsibility.

To those entrusted with much, much is demanded (Luke 12:48; 1 Timothy 3:1-7). Therefore, structural remedies are essential to uphold the four essential functions. Term limits must be imposed on all civil servants: mayors, senators, governors, and representatives, just as with the office of the President. This effectively ends career politicians and ensures government truly of the people, by the people, and for the people.

In addition, official pay should be tied to the median income of their constituency. This prevents elite greed and incentivizes leaders to live humbly among those they serve (Philippians 2:3-4). Furthermore, officials must be held to the highest standards with severe penalties. Any misdemeanor or felony that violates public trust should trigger loss of office, voting rights, heavy fines, property forfeiture, jail time, and ostracism (forfeiture of citizenship) from society (1 Corinthians 5:11-13; Proverbs 29:18). Special judicial precedence must be established to deter corruption and ensure impartial adjudication. Such accountability restores trust and moral order, not as vengeance.

The Freed Church and a Restrained State

When the government embraces this restraint, it liberates both citizens and the church. Magistrates who faithfully execute the four essential functions—national defense, citizen protection, rule enforcement, and dispute adjudication—allow the church to preach Christ freely. Nations can then be discipled, families strengthened, and communities built, forged by the Holy Spirit. In sharp contrast, counterfeit kingdoms, such as Communism, Marxism, Islam, and Christian Nationalism, coerce and compel through fear and control, but true reform clears the way for Lamb-bought and Spirit-wrought authentic faith. Our nation and its citizens need Christ, not Caesar.

Repentance doesn’t earn salvation; instead, it is the byproduct of supernatural regeneration from above. Statism, therefore, serves as a systemic theological disease. It grows where the fear of the LORD yields to the fear of man. When Christians and churches stay silent, the state preaches in their place. Therefore, parents must reclaim their children (Deuteronomy 6:6-7). The church must disciple and baptize souls under Christ's commission (Matthew 28:19-20). Magistrates must embrace humble restraint.

This vision clears away the thorns and prunes the vine so the imperishable WORD may be sown and take root in fertile soil (Matthew 13:22). It dethrones the perishable seed of counterfeits until King Jesus finally crushes them at His return (Revelation 19:11-16; Hebrews 9:28).

Humans can only establish false utopias and erect counterfeit Edens. Earthly governments are not charged with saving and redeeming humanity. Christ has already done that in and through the Cross. The charge is simply to make room for regeneration and opportunity for obedience. The church saves; the state restrains. The Spirit convicts; the courts punish. The gospel renews; the law protects. Caesar must be restrained to those four essential functions. Christ Jesus will be magnified, and His mission will be accomplished.

As nations rage in vain against the LORD and His Anointed, plotting counterfeit kingdoms that masquerade as light, they all crumble like dust before His inevitable decree (Ps. 2:1-5; 33:10-11; Is. 40:23-24; Dan. 4:35). Therefore, we are called to restrain Caesar/government to its four essential functions alone. King Jesus, the KING of kings and LORD of lords, is putting everything under His feet. Every serpent-seed rebellion will be vanquished, every knee will bow, and every tongue will confess His lordship when He returns (Gen. 3:15; Phil 2:10-11; Rev. 19:15-16)... to the glory of Christ alone!
