PERSPECTIVE

Yahweh, our Yahweh,
how majestic is Your name
in all the earth!

That's how Psalm 8 begins, with King David regaining a divine perspective. In doing so, he sings about Yahweh, the great "I AM," Creator, Immanuel, Judge, merciful Promise Maker and keeper... the only true and holy God of unrelenting love - despite our rebellion, rejection, and refusal...

Try and put yourself in David's sandals for a moment. Imagine looking up at a peerless and unadulterated sky 3,000 years ago... no smog, no light pollution... just a crystal clear and cloudless night deep in the Judean hills... innumerable stars, beautiful constellations... possibly on an evening with a full moon... and you are completely enveloped and consumed by the glory of its Creator, God Almighty!

Imagine feeling God's Presence... sensing His omnipotence and His eternal majesty in the awesome wonder and majestic beauty of His vast creation... a creation of a seemingly boundless cosmos!

Then, in contrast, the epiphany of your own insignificance and impermanence... your feet upon a grassy mound... the breath of life filling your lungs... the rhythmic beating of your heart within... and realizing in the grand scheme of eternity - life on earth vanishes in an instant.

When we truly encounter the Almighty,

endless depth and profundity

always intersect with clarity and awe.

God's love comes crashing in.

As a result, King David's heart erupted, not in sterile theological discourse, but in revelatory songs of praise:

Yahweh, our Yahweh,

how majestic is Your Name

in all the earth!

You have set Your glory in the heavens...

When I consider Your heavens,

the work of Your fingers,

the moon and the stars,

which You have set in place,

what is mankind that You are mindful of them,

human beings that You care for them?

In this moment, right now, know - with absolute certainty - that YOU are immensely significant to God Almighty. Consider the vastness of the cosmos... then ponder and reflect on this reality: He invites you (a broken, shattered, rebellious, treacherous, mutinous sinner) to be born-again by The Holy Spirit as a member of His poiema: His workmanship, His masterpiece, His divine handiwork, indeed His Body and Bride!

You are infinitely and eternally more significant to Jesus, the Eternal Son, Creator, Redeemer, and Sovereign, than anything... than EVERYTHING else in all the cosmos! You, unlike anything in all of His creation, were made in the image and likeness of God! You are so important, in fact, that God the Son, King Jesus, willfully, willingly stepped down from heaven to be born in an animal pen and went to the Cross to purchase you with His blood and very life!

Feelings of insignificance and depression are the enemy's tools. Self-pity and self-defeat are the crafty serpent's ways of tempting us to shine the spotlight on ourselves and our circumstances rather than upon Christ our Creator. Read Psalm 8, then sing Psalm 8 as an act of worship! Know with all certainty that God Almighty, the Creator of the heavens and earth, is intimately mindful of YOU! He cares deeply for YOU!

In light of the Cross, you should never, ever, feel alone or abandoned.

After singing, "Yahweh, our Yahweh, how majestic is Your name..." David responded, not just in awe and wonder, not just in tears of regret or thanksgiving, but with his life. A life dedicated, unleashed, and unreservedly abandon unto Yahweh.

What about you? What will you allow a divine PERSPECTIVE to produce in your life today... tomorrow... and forevermore?

Grace and Peace,
