LEVEL AND SOUND

How level are those whose way is sound, who walk in the Law of Yahweh.
-Psalm 119:1

How jankity would a house be built without using plumblines or a level? Imagine if your builder used materials like cardboard in place of steel... paper clips and rubber bands instead of screws and nails. That house wouldn’t be able to support its own weight. It certainly wouldn't pass any kind of legit inspection.

Psalm 119:1 reveals that those who intentionally and perpetually walk in the Law of Yahweh, those whose comings and goings are -all- directed and driven by God Almighty (not the fleeting fancies and whims du jour of contemporary culture), their way is sound and their lives are level.

Those folks are easy enough to spot. When everyone else is running about like Chicken Little, screaming, “The sky is falling!” they’re calmly going about the business of The Lord.

Their lives and emotions aren't governed by the stock market, corporate media, viral outbreaks, wins or losses, unemployment, criticism, or even imprisonment. Their lives are governed by the Law of The Lord. Their level and sound house is built on The Rock, Christ Jesus.

The Apostle Paul said it this way, “I have learned to be content regardless of my circumstances… I am accustomed to any and every situation… I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength.”

Paul was simply reiterating Psalm 119:1. Despite beatings, persecutions, rejection, threats, criticism, and numerous imprisonments - his life was level and his way was sound because in -all- his comings and goings he walked with Christ Jesus our Lord. The Way was Paul's way.

Following King Jesus has never been, nor will it ever be, something to dabble in. We see how that worked out for Ananias and Sapphira in Acts 5:1-11. Followers of "The Way" aren't "seekers" trying Jesus on for size, as if The Sovereign Lord were part of Amazon's "try before you buy" program.

The Lord's words to His followers still ring true today, “If anyone wants to come after Me, they must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow Me. For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for My sake will find it...”

When we truly are sick and tired of being sick and tired from all the self-imposed drama and chaos in our lives, King Jesus’ arms are wide open, still waiting and welcoming us into His everlasting Kingdom.

The Lord calls us home NOT in saying, "Try Jesus!" but instead, “Repent! For the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand.” When the Holy Spirit truly comes and we're convicted of our sin and crushed by our shame, His Grace doesn't leave us there. Instead, The Lord beckons, “Come to Me all you who are weary and overburdened, and I will give you rest.”

Being born-again by grace through faith in Christ Jesus leads us into a life of perpetual thanksgiving as we joyfully walk NOT in legalism's hollow do's and don'ts, but in the Law of Yahweh. As we do, all our ways are level and sound to His everlasting honor and glory.

Grace and Peace,
